We're getting chickens!
Finally! We've been planning on getting chicks for several months, and it's finally happening! It only took Mat 3 days to get the coop up. While it's not totally finished, it's functional for chicks now. I got a surprise text message on Monday, March 18th that Mat had gotten chicks and they were happy in their coop. The chicks are happy and so are we. The boys can't get enough of them. There is something therapeutic and calming about just sitting and watching them.
Here they are!
Here are the chicks on their first day home. We got 11 pullets:
4 Ameracaunas,
3 Black Australorps,
3 Barred Rocks, and
1 Buff Orpington.
The next day my husband got 2 Cornish X chicks for meat birds, and 1 Light Brahma. The light brahma is the smallest of the flock, but should turn out to be the largest when they're full grown.
